Bottle Cap Mosaics

June 21, 2012 • After School Workshop

Unlike traditional mosaics, our bottle cap mosaics allow for a much wider incorporation of materials. Using recycled, colorful bottle caps from soda, juice and milk jugs as bases, the After Schoolers filled the lids playdough made from our homemade recipe, and then pressed treasures of all kinds into the malleable dough. Beads, gems and little plastic trinkets are always a hit for these tiny mosaics, and since they are so small, each student was able to make several to take home.

This project offers our students a lot of room for creativity and experimentation, which one After Schooler took full advantage of, forgoing the playdough and gluing photo-collage, beads and thread right onto the cap!
