Spring Break Camp: Mosaic Day

April 23, 2012 • After School Workshop

Since there was no school over Spring Break, we opened the studio up to our Spring Break Campers with a week of themed art projects. One was Mosaic Day!

Mosaics are more than just tile collages; they’re actually a way in which to create images using shapes to compose a larger picture. Historically, the mosaic medium functioned as storytelling device, using pictures in and on architecture to portray a narrative without using words. We used the mosaic to share something about ourselves in the form of a Magical Minds Studio mosaic sign! The campers worked together on a large piece for the studio, and also made smaller versions to take home with them.
