Act One Week: The Wizard of Oz

July 25, 2012 • After School Workshop

For quite some time now, we have been incorporating the art of acting into our programming at Magical Minds Studio. Since performing is wildly popular amongst our students, we dedicated a week of Summer Camp to the Theater!

We chose to perform scenes from the Wizard of Oz, a story that many of our students would be familiar with, and more importantly, a story full of magic, imagination and color! Our Summer Campers not only learned their performing roles, they also took on other artistic roles essential to theater: that of the costume and set designers.

We made crowns and masks for our performers, and created backdrops to set the scene. Putting on a play is a ton of fun for kids, and it also encourages team work and collaboration.
