Elmer the Elephant and the Letter ‘E’

March 7, 2012 • Passport To Preschool

Last week in Passport2Preschool, the students learned all about the letter ‘E.’ They read Elmer the Elephant by David McKee, a book about a brightly colored patchwork elephant whose story teaches kids that it’s ok to be different.

Using Elmer as inspiration, the Preschoolers created their own brightly colored elephant using dyed eggshells. Through this project, the kids got to experiment with colors, textures and new materials, and got to see first-hand how the dyeing process works.

And everybody got to take their Elmer the Elephant home with them!
