P2P Camp Visits Val’s Halla Records!

June 12, 2013 • Passport To Preschool

Summer Camp Music Week would not be complete without a visit to our Harrison Street neighbors, Val’s Halla Records!

Many of our students walk past Val’s on their ways to the studio, and they loved the opportunity to take a walk to visit this cool Oak Park business. Founded in 1972, “the store brims over with 45s, LPs, cassettes and CDs in every conceivable musical category, from big bands to bauhaus, from rockabilly to rap,” Val says on the company’s website.

The students loved the chance to visit these nice folks, and to peek around at all the posters and album cover art. They were totally inspired!

In the images below, you’ll see the P2P students waiting outside on the sidewalk, eager to visit Val’s. Also, you’ll see one of our campers posing with Shane, a young employee at the record shop. Scroll down below the image gallery for a video celebrating Val’s 40 Years in Oak Park!
