We started with the skeleton or the bread, added a bit of meat, and came out with a story. Metaphors abounded this week as we worked on our storytelling.
The students described an idea, whether is was telling about a person or an event. They worked on descriptions of the setting, so that the reader could see what they were seeing in their minds eye. They even developed their characters so that people would get a sense of their personality.
And some groups weren’t content to leave the imagery to the readers’ imagination. By the end of the week the students were creating scripts, scenery and costumes.
