African American Art Inspiration

February 8, 2019 • Passport To Preschool

Passport 2 Preschool worked worked with numbers, shapes and letters, based on inspiration from four African American artists. Horace Pippin helped the group with numbers and objects in space, while Bisa Butler inspired use of shapes in fabric art.

Lois Mailou Jones’s African tribal masks were the basis of working with shapes and colors, and Jean-Michel Basquiat’s graffiti art provided a basis to work with letters and art combined.
